Village & Tribal Rugs
Every Rug Tells a Story
These smaller rugs are works of art. Hand-knotted by a woman, her design reflects her village or family traditions. She will often add personal symbols such as trees, birds, or abstract shapes, the meanings known only to her.
Many are 100-percent wool woven onto a wool foundation, rather than cotton, making them extremely durable and well suited for kitchens and other high traffic areas. Because the loom is taken apart and reassembled as she works, edges may wander and motifs may shift. But that's the point. These rugs were never meant to be perfect, they were meant to be personal.
Most have lived 80 to 100 years, wearing their age with grace. Each is a one-of-a-kind textile with generations of history woven in.
